Floro and Mieke Meurs argue that the changes in labor markets and labor relations(,)and the reduction of spending for social protection has worsened womens access to decent work. Accordingly, women shoulder the double burden of paid and reproductive work - a drawback that could be solved by social policy that enables men and women to balance both their paid and reproductive work responsibilities. The authors demand capacities for increased gender - aware economic analysis which in their view is crucial to bring to light gender inequalities and promote a move towards decent work for women. Trade - A Driving Force for Jobs and Womens Empowerment? Focus on China and India 貿易は雇用と女性の権利拡大の原動力か？中国とインドを焦点に Christa Wichterich, Dialogue on Globalisation, FES Berlin, May Christa Wichterich counters the mainstream argument that trade has the potential to be a driving force for jobs and for womens empowerment. She presents evidence from China and India where past trade liberalization has distorted the labor market at the particular expense of womens working conditions, opportunities for quality employment and social relations with regards to womens dual burden as breadwinners and reproductive workers. Global Emissions Trading: A Solution to the Climate Challenge? 世界的排出権取引：気候変動への挑戦、解決策は？ Konstantin Bärwaldt, Berthold Leimbach, Friedemann Müller; May International Policy Analysis Tasks of the New European Commission 新欧州委員会の仕事 Study Group Europe, May The mandate of the current European Commission will run out on October 30th, 2009. It is clear that the new European Commission will have to go beyond mere crisis management. This means initiating a long-term paradigm shift towards a more social EU with a sustainable approach to the economy as well as a global presence. For this to become a reality, the Study Group Europe of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung has developed a list of tasks for the new European Commission. In a number of policy fields, changes need to be made in the spirit of social democracy: social dimension, economic policy, taxation, financial markets, public service provision, energy and climate, a culture of civil rights, security and freedom, migration and integration, a Common Foreign and Security Policy, and European Neighbourhood Policy.
